Devlog 9: Production Phase 6

Coding:

For coding we changed our start screen so now you can choose new colors instead of choosing a new character by going to the the left and right. There is also controls at the bottom of the screen that indicate which buttons you can use and how. There is also a sound that plays in the menus and changes in the actual game, then there is a different background sound. When you ready up or unready there is also an 8 bit clicking sound playing.

After the start screen there is a controls scene that show a bit of how the game works instead of going directly to the game. This controls display will stop after 10 seconds and then the players will be put in the actual game. When we go to the game there is a WWE wrestling bell sound that plays.

We also have an end screen now, after a certain amount of time which is 2 minutes right now, the game will end and be send to an end screen which will show the winning player and give the first player the possibility to go to the main menu or just restart the game. When the game ends the WWE wrestling bell sound will play again indicating the end of the game.

Art:

Our team has been working hard to enhance the platforming experience, making the platforms more enjoyable and jumpable.

One of our additions is the implementation of special moving platforms. These platforms offer dynamic and challenging movement patterns, adding an extra layer of depth to the game. We've adjusted their values to strike the right balance to make sure the player won't die or fall of the platforms. To ensure the best gameplay experience we've playtested the game multiple times, Gathering feedback from various players helped us fine-tune the platform placement and behavior. Our goal was to make sure that every platform is reachable and provides a satisfying challenge and a clear path to follow.

In addition, we fine-tuned the particle effect of the hover beard, making it fit the game aesthetic a bit more, moving away from its initial sci-fi vibe.

Aside from that we made some major changes to the background. We created a lot more panels with cool windows and openings so the sky behind it would become more visible.

Furthermore a design was made for the start- and endscreen, which will be worked out more in the coming weeks.
