Devlog 7: Production Phase 4

Coding:

This week for coding we made a player select screen in the start of the game. At the start of the game you can press a button on your controller to join in the game. After you joined you can use the joystick to choose a new character that has another color. When pressing x you will ready up. If all players are ready and there are two or more players, the game will do a countdown and the game will start with all players in their respectable colors.

We have made a few changes to the way on how the bomb works in our game. Our previous implementation allowed the bomb to stick to players upon contact, regardless of where the bomb landed on the player's body. However, we have made significant improvements to this feature. Now, whenever a player has the bomb, it will be clearly visible floating above their head. We have also added a new animation to show when a player is carrying the bomb. To enhance the experience further, we have implemented a new explosion sound and ticking sound that becomes more intense when the bomb is about to detonate.

Art:

First off, we've been working on the character UI, which is coming together really nicely. It's going to be sleek and modern, with easy-to-use controls that make gameplay a breeze.

We've now included a border around each player's image to clearly indicate which score belongs to them.

We've also been tweaking the bomb timer, making sure it's just the right length to keep things exciting without being too stressful,

To further align with the wrestling theme, we've incorporated a timer sprite into the UI.

One of the things we've been working on is the player light in the level. It's going to add a whole new level of immersion to the game, and we're hoping it will make players feel like they're really part of the action.

We've also been experimenting with normal map usage for the lighting. It's amazing how much of a difference it makes to the overall look and feel of the game. We're excited to see how this feature will enhance the player's experience.

One of the key features we've been working on is creating art for our tillable platforms. We wanted to really embrace the wrestling theme of our game, so we've been experimenting with different textures and designs to make the platforms feel like part of the ring.

Some Portal Animations:

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to work on this project. We can't wait for you all to play it!
