Devlog 2: Prototype Phase 1
General:
Updated the TechDoc. Made a first draft for Naming Conventions and Folder Structures, agreed on a Development Stack.
Art:
This week the artists worked on creating the Art-Bible. Looked into shape language for the environment and how we could tackle the background/foreground paneling. Some exploration for the character and its colors. And how we make the players always visible and readable.
Work was also done on UI design and ideas for, main screen, death/score counters, victory/end screens.
The creation processes of animation sprites has been finalized. Once the design is made a 3D model will be Modeled to match it in Blender. After Rigged and animation a sequence of frames will be exported in low resolution without anti-aliasing. A special script will then turn these into a sprite sheet, which then will be imported into Unity to be used animation.
Further tests will need to be made to see if we’re gonna shade the 2D sprites with a toon shader or find an alternative.
Coding:
We settled on Unity now and several prototypes have been made to test features such as jumping, throwing, explosions, platforming, camera movement.
